I don’t remember how I first came across Federico Mosconi, but it was through his album Nocturnal. It was so good that when I went on to listen to his other releases, I almost felt a little disappointed, not because they were bad or anything, but simply because they weren’t the exact same thing.
Sadie Powers combines vivid soundscapes with her main instrument, the bass, creating a mood that draws the listener deep in thought. The sad personal story behind the album (as described on her Bandcamp page) becomes audible.
The latest album by loscil, Lake Fire, was released on May 2, 2025, and I finally took the time to listen to it. For a good reason. Because who could be more fitting for the very first post on this blog?
